Happy Monday! As I sit on the couch recovering from a cold, I thought I would post today about our recent endeavor of 2019. From photos, it appears to be a fun and refreshing facelift for our 30+ year old home, but in reality, it was a large repair! This summer, we had a toilet pipe burst which flooded majority of our main level and into our basement. Fortunately, we were able to salvage the sub-flooring and basement, but it was discouraging to have to rip out our new hardwoods we placed when we moved in 4 years ago. My husband and I had been going back and forth of whether to do some minor changes, sell and move, or take the renovation plunge. Coincidentally, our guest bathroom toilet helped us with that decision!
We searched and quoted several contractors until we found the one that worked best for us. We chose the design, materials, paint colors, etc. We wanted to be apart of this project as much as possible. If we were deciding to stay in this house for a while, we wanted it to feel as cozy and clean as possible. This home was built in 1986, so we felt it had good bones and was worth a facelift. We enjoy our neighborhood which has a mixture of young adults with kids, empty nesters, and elderly. Our neighbors are kind and our lot is quite private with wooded areas. We like having that. Plus, we have a deer family that visits often!
I will post again soon with specifics on where I found certain materials and furnishings. I have had a lot of questions about those things, so I’ll do another post soon. Thanks for visiting and happy post-Christmas Monday!
